Select a Pathway to Obtain your MHRTC

To understand the various Pathways to obtain your MHRTC, visit this page

Under the Get Certified tab you will locate the 8 Domains required with the specific requirements to obtain any possible Credit for Work Experience.

After you select your Pathway, do not apply for MHRTC certification with Catherine Cutler Institute, formerly Muskie, until you have made the decision on the Pathway and worked with your Supervisor on the path you are using.

If you are going with NAT review the NAT course schedule on the website under the Non Academic tab. Review the courses being offered to develop a training plan with your supervisor from the list on the website that looks like this:

Virtually all students need to take Domain 1-3 which are Core Courses you must complete as well as Domain 8. Once you submit your application you have 90 days to complete the first 3 Domains. This is the reason it is important to work out your schedule for trainings before submitting your application.

    Credit for Work Experience (CWE)

If you believe you have work experience for the following Domains, you will need to review the MHRTC 8 Domains to determine if you have covered all the requirements for a particular Domain. The list of Credit for Work Experience (CWE) is on the Catherine Cutler Institute. You can use this link to obtain the full 8 Domains document developed by DHHS and Muskie. You can use CWE for 2 courses – 1 course per 6 months – or 2 per calendar year.

You can have Scott Bernier at the Catherine Cutler Institute assist you with reviewing prior courses or educational certificates you have taken to determine what may count towards the 8 Domains.

    MH101 Course

All Applicants must take MH 101 which is a free web-based course that will take about 1 hour to complete. To take this training go to https://training.cfl‐muskie.org/

You will need to register and create a password.

    Application Process

Once you find out if your CWE is applicable and accepted, then plot the course of action for the remaining training required to complete in the first 90 DAYS after your application is approved. You will receive a MHRTC which is more of a holding spot until you complete the first 3 domain trainings.
