How To Use Relias

Login Help

The telephone number for Relias Help is difficult to locate. Here is the number if you absolutely cannot figure out how to log in or need other assistance - 1-800-381-2321. They will ask for the agency name; provide them with Kennebec Behavioral Health

Go to the KBH Portal page that looks like this and the Relias link is in the second column, seventh down.

This will bring you to the Dashboard page when you are logged in as a Learner with your Upcoming assignments and a badge to the left. This is an example of how it will look.

Check the selection in the upper left corner. Supervisors have a tab they can use as well as being a learner. There are very few administrators or instructors within the agency. Most people will see just the learner box.

Searching for Modules as a Supervisor

In Relias courses are called Modules. To search for course, you need to pull up the Module List and search for courses you want to take. Click on Modules and you will see an expanded list to include Module List.

How to Search the Module List

Using the picture above which is the home page for you as a learner. You may have upcoming assignments or may not if you have not enrolled in any courses.) Click on the “See Full List of Assignments” and the Browse Elective Courses:

You will see a box like the one noted below and you can search and enroll in courses. When you enroll in a course, it will be on your Learning page.

You can also search for exact titles and/or module codes if you know the title you are looking to enroll.  Just be aware that if you include more information than is contained in a title or code, the search may not find results.  For example, searching for Fire Safety In-service will not return any search results, because there is no module title that contains all of those terms.  When in doubt, search for the least information possible for the most results.

*Also note, if you add a module to your assignments, it no longer will appear in the large module list. It can be located in your assignments. This is important to remember!

Here you can input your desired search terms.  The search function will look for matches in the title, course description, and the module code of all modules in your site.  The search function will locate any titles or module codes that contain your search term.  For example, if you are looking for modules on "Fire Safety", it is advisable to search for the word fire.  The search function will show any modules that contain the word fire in the title.  You can also search for exact titles and/or module codes if you know them.  Just be aware that if you include more information than is contained in a title or code, the search may not find results.  For example, searching for Fire Safety in-service will not return any search results, because there is no module title that contains all of those terms.  When in doubt, search for the least information possible for the most results.

Viewing Enrolled Courses

This list will include courses you have enrolled in on your Learning Page. Courses you have selected and enrolled in will show up on your Dashboard. The following is an example of a dashboard showing courses I have enrolled in through Relias

Taking the Course

Use the Take Now button to launch the course.

You must walk through each section in order. When you have completed the course, you will be brought to the Final Exam which must be taken in order to complete the course and print a certificate for your files. You do not have to print the certificate as the course completion will remain in Relias. If you are taking courses for certifications or licensing, it is suggested you print the certificate and maintain that in your personal files.

You can enroll in a course and it will show up in your assignments until you take the course, if you do not do so immediately. You can add courses to your list by simply clicking on the enroll button for any courses you would like to take. If you decide to not take the course select the “withdraw” tab in red located under the course title. When you click on this button you will receive a box asking if you want to withdraw – thus you will select the OK button in blue or the cancel button. Remember if you enroll in course and as doing a search for a course check your enrolled courses to see if it is in the section. If not use the Browse Elective Courses tab.

Also important to know, is that once you have added a course to your assignments, it does not show in the master list of Relias Courses. It will only be located in your assignment list. As you complete courses you will gain points for each completed module/course and can view your shield which looks like the one below. You can go to the “Store” and add symbols to your badge if you so desire.

In Summary

  • When in doubt use the Relias How-To Manual in Relias located under the “Connect” tab on your home page which is an excellent resource, or the Video tutorials located in the Connect tab Relias as well.
  • Please feel free to contact the Relias Help Desk at the number provided if you are stuck and cannot move forward.
  • For assistance, you can also check in with Christa Bickford or Georgana Prudhomme
  • Use Relias to increase your knowledge on a topic of interest.
  • Also, Relias is a great way to gain contact hours for certifications and licensure renewals. Look at the box in the course to make sure it is approved by at least the ASWB.
  • Print your certificates for your own documentation and proof of taking a course.
  • I recommend trying the system and maneuvering through courses and the tabs to become familiar with the processes.
